7:9 male and female, came into the ark to Noah, ¹  just as God had commanded him. ²

46:2 God spoke to Israel in a vision during the night ⁵  and said, “Jacob, Jacob!” He replied, “Here I am!”

[7:9]  ¹ tn The Hebrew text of vv. 8-9a reads, “From the clean animal[s] and from the animal[s] which are not clean and from the bird[s] and everything that creeps on the ground, two two they came to Noah to the ark, male and female.”

[7:9]  ² tn Heb “Noah”; the pronoun has been used in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[21:4]  ³ tn Heb “Isaac his son, the son of eight days.” The name “Isaac” is repeated in the translation for clarity.

[21:4]  ⁴ sn Just as God had commanded him to do. With the birth of the promised child, Abraham obeyed the Lord by both naming (Gen 17:19) and circumcising Isaac (17:12).

[46:2]  ⁵ tn Heb “in visions of the night.” The plural form has the singular meaning, probably as a plural of intensity.
